Conch piercing heals overall in about 4-9 months. During this entire healing period, it is very important to use implant grade titanium piercing jewelry or nickel-free gold piercing jewelry (good jewelry material supports the healing of the piercing). In addition, the piercing must be protected from all cosmetics, oils, fats and hair products (don’t put anything on the piercing that you wouldn’t put on an open wound). Rinse the piercing only with water or a pharmacy saline solution! Avoid sleeping on the piercing and touching/rotating it.
Change the ring for the Conch piercing at 3 months at the earliest, if the piercing is fine (no pain, redness or scarring). If the piercing starts showing symptoms after changing the ring, it is worth going back to the stud-style jewelry, because the change is then still too early. When it comes to rings, you should first try a model that doesn’t spin around too much.
For a piercing that is healing, we recommend a pin-shaped piece of jewelry in size 1.2mm x 8mm. In a healed piercing, the swelling of which has already gone down, the appropriate size of the pin-shaped jewelry is usually 1.2mm x 6mm. In piercing rings, the sizes 1.2mm x 10mm, 11.2mm and 12.7mm are most commonly used.
